Internship: GPU programming in C#
Educational level: bachelor/academic
Duration: 6 months
Although the CPU’s in current PC’s keep getting faster and keep getting more processing cores, when it comes to raw processing power the GPU is usually much faster. Because this raw power comes from the large number of processing cores on the GPU, only some kinds of applications are able to use this power, but when they can, it’s very rewarding.
DEMCON designs various systems, and some of these have to process large sets of data. If GPU acceleration can be introduced with relative ease in these C# based applications, this would be very welcome. For this we need to analyse the available options and set up a platform with the best solution which we can include in our projects.
- Analyse the applicability of and conditions for GPU acceleration in DEMCON projects.
- Analyse the available ways to access the GPU in C#
- Apply the best alternative in a current project
- Create a platform with which this can be easily re-used in future projects.
The student will be supervised by engineers from the software engineering department.
